Is your vintage fishing tackle worth something ~ or not? Find out for free on Sunday, June 3, 2018 from 1 - 3pm. We are thrilled to have Henry Caldwell doing the appraisals. Henry is the owner of Black Bass Antiques, headquartered in Bolton Landing, NY for the past 20+ years. He is a widely recognized expert in his field, and a rare professional who spent well over two decades dedicated to searching out and researching prime examples of the tools and techniques of early fishermen and hunters.
A longtime member of the National Fishing Lure Collector’s Club, Henry sits on the Board of Directors for ORCA (Old Reel Collectors Association, Inc.) A busy man, he travels the country to attend fishing lure conferences and seminars, tackle exhibitions and shows. Adirondack Living TV filmed an exciting 2-part show about Henry and Black Bass Antiques. Articles have been written about him in the Lake George Mirror and Woody Boats, among other publications. Yet he always has time to share his knowledge with both beginning and advanced collectors, museums, institutions, decorators and designers alike.
Henry’s appraisal of antique and vintage fishing gear at the Antiques Market Place will include an informal look at pieces from his own collection and inventory ~ virtually everything from vintage Old Town canoes to antique working decoys to early outboard motors. He will be happy to answer your questions. Henry said, “The Adirondack region is the perfect place to learn about early fishing. All the early patents are from NYS, from the very first issued in 1852 just down the road in Whitehall, and another right over in Schroon Lake.”
Make the afternoon of June 3rd a special experience. Attend the free appraisals, take a gander at Henry’s wonderful antiques and hear all about the art that goes into the creation of fishing equipment. We ask that you limit the items you’d like to have appraised to 2 antique or vintage fishing tackle per person.
